When it comes to my consulting clients I prefer to keep the number of clients I work with limited. I feel this helps keep the focus on you and your program. Your are not just one of many but one of the select few that has my 40 years of experience working for them. This also keeps me from being stretched to thin with the amount of time I have available for each program and it also helps avoid any conflict of interest when it comes to purchasing or selling cattle.
The first thing that I like to do when starting to work with a new client is to sit down with them to talk about their goals for their breeding program and their vision for their herd. This give me a better idea of what I need to do to help them achieve their vision and goals for their program. It's not about my vision but Yours. I believe in helping my clients learn about cattle in general and Texas Longhorns in particular as we go through the process of building the herd of their Dreams.
When I do a herd evaluations I am basically judging the cattle in the herd on their individual qualities. I am looking to weed out cattle with undesirable traits, genetic defects and poor performance. This helps insure that my client has a good foundation to build on moving forward.
I will review the clients goals and vision for their herd. Then I will look over the genetics of the herd to plan out which bulls are to use with each cow for either nature, AI or ET breeding. The main focus will be to produce offspring that with fit the vision and goals the client has for their program.
I am available to help my clients avoid making costly mistakes when looking at making a purchase of a new herd addition. I review each possible purchase to weed out cattle with undesirable traits, genetic defects and poor performance. You might be surprised at the number of cattle that are offered at sales with one or more of the above issues.
I work with clients on setting up a quality nutrition program as well as a herd vaccination program. I am also available to help work the cattle so that the client can learn safe and proper cattle handling methods..
They say a photo is worth a 1000 words, you just need to make sure it is speaking good words about your program. I am available to not only to photograph your cattle but also share tips on cattle photography with those interested. I can assist you in putting together a marketing campaign to help make folks aware of your program.
I can help you advance your breeding program through the use of AI and ET. I have an extensive background in managing Longhorn cattle for an AI and/or ET program.
Can't make it to a sale but would like to purchase cattle? Need someone you trust to put their eyes on them and give you an honest evaluation? I am at most sales and can be available to assist you in looking over possible purchases. If you need me to act as your buying agent that can be arranged as well. Contact for pricing.
Judging cattle shows is one of the things I really enjoy. I judge several shows a year for both Longhorn Associations. My judging is based on the Longhorn Breed Guidelines and my 40 yrs in the Longhorn business. It is a good idea to get on my calendar early. Rate is $450 plus Hotel and travel expenses.
From time to time when I am attending sales I have limited trailer space available coming back to Southeast Texas.
I will be taking in a few show cattle for the upcoming show season for a few select shows and futurities.
